When we moved offices from River North to Printers Row in April, we were exposed to a whole new part of Chicago. And since very few of us were familiar with the local establishments—and no local guide to Printers Row existed yet— we created our own app, 88 Scenester, to help us settle in to our new home.
How we brought 88 Scenester to life
We started by scouring for places that we’d not only find useful and within walking distance, but ones that would also help our visiting clients and other local professionals and students discover all the great establishments within the Printers Row district. Places like restaurants, bars, CTA stops, nail salons, grocery stores, parcel services, banks, entertainment, landmarks and more were all curated via staff recommendations.
Next, our developer and design team gave 88 Scenester a functionality and design that would bring it all to life. Everything from photography to icons to the app logo was created here at 88. After these components were implemented and app testing was completed, all that was left to do was choose the spot you wanted to check out, hit the icon on the map and walking directions from our agency would set you on your way. We couldn’t think of a more fun way to explore our new neighborhood.
